This is a static website. It uses no cookies, user accounts, analytics or tracking services, advertising networks, externally loaded fonts, or embedded social-media content.
Technical server logs
When a website is requested, the hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data. This may include the IP address, time, requested file, transferred data volume, browser type, operating system, and referring page. This processing supports secure and reliable website delivery.
Hosting provider: Hetzner Online GmbH (server location: EU / Germany).
Where applicable, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation). Retention period: technical connection logs as required for secure operation and deleted as soon as lawful retention requirements no longer apply.
Contact
If you contact us by email, the submitted data is processed to handle your request. Depending on the request, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual or contractual communication) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (responding to other inquiries). Data is deleted when it is no longer required for the request or statutory retention duties.
3. Privacy in the Windows app
Desktop Icon Switcher does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. It contains no ads or telemetry and requires no network connection for its operation.
Only the following data is stored locally on the Windows device:
- identifiers of the virtual Windows desktops;
- the preferred visibility state of desktop icons;
- whether the introductory notice was displayed;
- optional technical error logs after an application error.
This data is used only for the requested app function and is never
transmitted automatically. In the portable version, settings are
stored at
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DesktopIconSwitcher\settings.json.
For a Store/MSIX installation, Windows may associate this storage
with the protected app package.
Error logs
A local error log may contain the app version, time, Windows version, error context, and technical exception information. The app does not transmit it. It can be viewed and deleted from Settings. The app automatically limits the folder to ten log files.
Microsoft Store
For the Store version, installation, licensing, payment, and updates are provided by Microsoft. Microsoft's privacy information and the settings of the respective Microsoft account apply to data processed by Microsoft.
4. Recipients and international transfers
The app itself transmits no data. For the website, only the hosting provider receives connection data required for delivery. If the hosting provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, this is done only in accordance with applicable legal requirements and contractual safeguards (for example a data-processing agreement and, where required, Standard Contractual Clauses).
5. Your rights
Where the legal requirements are met, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection. Consent can be withdrawn at any time with future effect.
Complaints may be lodged with the competent data-protection authority. In Austria, this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
6. Updates
This privacy policy will be updated when features, hosting, or the legal framework change. The version published on this page applies.
